Those of us who own dogs know the unique love and loyalty they bring into our lives. Zeb brought out the good in everyone.
I adopted 4 month old Zeb into an urban reality but, we both craved nature. When we began spending time in the country, Zeb’s personality bloomed. He loved long walks down rural roads, happy runs through the fields, naps in the clean country air. Zeb’s curiosity and respect for nature were boundless.
The farm-to-table movement was growing all around. If we humans can eat well from the bounty of our surroundings, why can’t our beloved animals? I began preparing homemade food for Zeb, always conscious of balancing cost and, with the advice of a wise local vet, nutrition. In coordination with nearby farmers we were able to maximize local livestock potential, minimize waste and promote sustainability. Best of all, it was helping to make sure every life was being honored. It made us all healthier, happier and more connected.
Zeb left us a few years ago. I’ll always remember Zeb’s floppy ears, loving smile and quiet dignity. In a way, he rescued me, too. And for that, I will be eternally grateful. Today, his memory ensures that we take a special pride in every treat that bears his name. From our locally sourced ingredients to our compostable eco-friendly packaging, this is so much more than just a product or a business.
